Business Development Manager – IconSystem

Working within the IconSystem team in Market Harborough and with colleagues across the UK and international operations the BDM and ‘hunter’, is responsible for the management and progression of leads throughout the sales cycle.

Using self and externally generated leads, you will develop and nurture contacts to manage the ongoing long-term pipeline of future business opportunities, and have a demonstratable ability to close new client deals.

Key responsibilities:
  • New business sales development for IconSystem (primary focus) and other Elecosoft portfolio products (secondary focus) pursuing self-generated and external leads.
  • Making initial calls to identify client requirements and sales opportunities.
  • Meeting with prospective clients to assess business requirements and draft proposals.
  • Following the stages of an established long-term sales cycle to ensure all business is secured as planned.
  • Using a consultative approach throughout the business development process.
  • Accountability for sales pipeline reporting to the MD
  • Involvement in marketing initiatives to generate new business.
  • Creating new business opportunities.
  • Reporting regularly to the Managing Director on activities and targets.
  • Co-ordinating project proposals with technical staff.
  • Attending initial sales meetings and meeting the client.
  • Determining a client’s business requirements and whether the products being considered are suitable.

A good standard of advanced education.

Essential skills/ prerequisites:
  • Previous experience in sales and/or business development within an IT or software environment.
  • A career which has developed from an initial background in telesales or cold-calling into an enterprise sales hunter.
  • Proven skills in building solid, lasting client relationships and managing long sales cycles and pipeline.
  • Able to demonstrate a positive, professional, consultative and problem-solving approach.
  • Creative thinking with innovative ideas.
  • Dedication to providing excellent client service.
  • Be highly motivated, eager to learn, tenacious, determined and driven.
  • Be a self-starter with a genuine interest in software and technology.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent IT skills, especially all Microsoft Office products.
Desirable skills:
  • A record of achieving sales targets working within a software environment.
  • Proven track record in low-volume/ high-value sales.
  • Experience selling Building Information Management Systems or similar would be an advantage.
  • Foreign language skills would also be an advantage (French or Spanish).
Essential abilities:

Working hours and location:

The normal working hours are 37.5 hours per week. From time to time, you may be required to work additional hours to fully perform your job in accordance with the needs of the business.

The main working location is Elecosoft’s Market Harborough office, but the role may involve travel to other Elecosoft offices, client’s offices, and other locations as necessary in line with the needs of the business.
