Technical Sales Engineer

Sales Engineers are the primary technical resource for the Sales Team.

Sales Engineers are responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate for our products. The Sales Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users across the product portfolio. The Sales Engineer must be able to identify all technical issues of assigned accounts to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. The Sales Engineer must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle.

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for maintaining technical expertise and knowledge across the ShireSystem and IconSystem product portfolio.
  • Responsible for presenting the product to customers online, at customer premises and at field events such as conferences, seminars, etc.
  • Responsible for the development and delivery of product demonstrations to potential and existing customers, both remotely and at the customer’s site.
  • Responsible for the technical and functional responses of RFIs/RFPs.
  • Responsible for the capture of a customer’s technical requirements during the sales process and their documentation, for example in formal proposals and Statements of Work (SOW).
  • Able to analyse complex customer requirements and propose compliant technical solutions within the functional scope of the product.
  • Able to collaborate with peers and product management (and development) to develop technical solutions.
  • Able to provide rapid, accurate responses to technical questions from sales staff.
  • Able to participate in prospect and/or customer sales meetings and engagements (including seminars, conferences, trade shows, etc.).
  • Able to provide guidance and make decisions on changes required throughout the design process.
  • Able to work with and manage customized solutions and products, including 3rd party products.
  • Able to attend account review meetings with major accounts to keep informed about the life cycle evolvement of the implemented customer solution.
  • Able to travel throughout sales territory.
Essential skills/ prerequisites:
  • High level of technical and software understanding.
  • Experienced in Customer Relationship Management and Sales.
  • Experience within CMMS or CAFM software sales advantageous.
  • Experience of selling to manufacturing, food production and other facilities and equipment intensive industries would be beneficial.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • To work, cooperate and communicate in a distributed environment, both with colleagues internally as well as customers and suppliers to Elecosoft.
  • Must possess a proven ability to craft a solution and develop proposals and RFI/RFP responses with appropriate products and services base on client requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must be self-motivated with a proven track record in software sales and knowledge of CMMS, CAFM and Information managment technologies.
  • Must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally in written responses to emails, RFPs, proposal, and when submitting reports.
  • Must be organized and analytical, able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.
  • Must present a professional business image.
  • Must possess an understanding of both technical and commercial business processes in order to build confidence with customers.
  • Must be able to interact with all levels of a client’s organization.
Working hours and location:
  • 9.00 -17.30 Monday to Friday with 1 hour lunch (37.5-hour week)
  • Office based at our Southampton offices, with the possible option of working from home for part of the week, subject to the needs of the business (Team Meetings, Training & Induction)
  • Occasional visits to other Elecosoft offices.
