Troubleshooting

Microsoft DirectX® issues

Bidcon BIM must be installed onto a computer with a graphics card that is capable of supporting Microsoft DirectX 10 or greater and on which the DirectX End-User Runtimes are installed. If you install Bidcon BIM onto a computer that does not have the DirectX End-User Runtimes installed, a warning appears when you attempt to display IFC models.

To determine the maximum version of DirectX that a computer’s graphics card can support:

  1. Launch the DirectX Diagnostic Tool by running dxdiag from the Windows® Start menu or from the Search charm in the Windows 8 Charms bar.
  2. When the DirectX Diagnostic Tool appears, click the Display tab. The DDI Version field (the Feature Levels field in the case of Windows 8) indicates the maximum version of DirectX that the graphics card can support.

“Missing certificates” error on computers running Microsoft Windows Vista®

If you install Bidcon BIM onto a computer that is running Windows Vista, you may encounter a “missing certificates” error. This issue was addressed by the “Update for Root Certificates for Windows Vista [November 2013] (KB931125)” Windows update, so if you encounter this error, use Windows Update to ensure that Windows is up to date on the computer in question.
