But the events of 14 June 2017 will be etched in our hearts and minds forever. 72 people lost their lives in a tragic fire that was started by a faulty fridge-freezer, but made much more devastating by the combustible cladding that covered the building’s exterior. Now, a new UK government funding initiative is finally compelling property owners to invest in fire-safe cladding on high rise buildings. But reducing this risk is just the start point.
