To access context-sensitive Help that relates to the Serveradmin dialog you are currently looking at, press F1 within the dialog.
Although you can create as many data sources as you like, Asta Powerproject may work slowly if you set up and use more than two or three data sources per server. To ensure that Asta Powerproject runs at an acceptable speed, do not create more than two or three data sources.
You can configure Serveradmin to record which users perform which actions and the date and time on which the actions are performed. You can then view the audit logs at any time.
You can configure Serveradmin so that new data sources are set to produce audit logs automatically. This means that you do not have to enable audit logging each time you create a new data source.
A project is normally mounted when it is opened, and dismounted when all users have finished working with it. It can take some time to mount projects. If particular projects will be opened and closed frequently, you can speed up access times by premounting them each time the Enterprise server starts. Premounting a project also prevents it from being dismounted automatically when all users have finished working with it.
You can configure Serveradmin so that new data sources are accessible to all users automatically. This means that you do not have to grant users access each time you create a new data source.
You can add your own user-defined fields to server-mounted data sources. For example, you can create your own edit boxes, numerical fields and check boxes. This might be useful if you are integrating Asta Powerproject with other systems. For example, you might have a stock control system and want part numbers from the stock control system to be stored in your project with resource properties. Or you might want to provide additional information in your project so that it can be referenced by the stock control system.
You can also add user-defined tables to server-mounted data sources. These are collections of fields, which you can define, that appear in a grid. You can create user-defined enumerators and include these in user-defined tables; these enable you to select from a list of pre-specified values in a dropdown list.
Unfortunately, even the best software applications crash on rare occasions. Asta Powerproject have been designed to recover from a client or server crash with most, if not all, of your data intact. The Enterprise server keeps a copy of all work in progress on Asta Powerproject clients, and each client keeps a copy of their own work. This means that if the Enterprise server or a client crashes, you can restart the program and continue from where you left off. If either the server or a client crashes, you can restart the program that has crashed and continue working.
