Training Manager (Construction)

We are seeking a dynamic and commercially minded Training Manager to lead our Construction training function. You will oversee the scheduling and resourcing of training delivery, shape sector-specific course content, and drive commercial success through strategic engagement with key accounts.

 

You will manage a team of trainers and an account executive, ensuring our training offerings deliver measurable value across the construction industry, throughout the entire customer base.

You will foster a collaborative and high-performance culture focused on customer success and commercial growth.

Key responsibilities:

Training Operations & Resource Management:

  • Schedule and allocate trainers to courses based on demand, availability, and expertise.
  • Proactively manage resource challenges, including last-minute changes, trainer conflicts, and course cancellations.
  • Ensure optimal utilisation of training resources to maintain high delivery standards and customer satisfaction.

Course Development & Packaging:

  • Collaborate with Product and Sales teams to design, update, and package training courses that reflect evolving customer needs and industry trends.
  • Work closely with the Director of Customer Success to define and evolve the training value proposition and establish a clear, strategic training product roadmap.
  • Ensure course content is tailored to sector-specific needs, delivering relevant and actionable value.
  • Maintain a feedback loop with trainers and customers to continuously improve course offerings.
  • Shape our future direction to training delivery, moving towards digital content and delivery.

Commercial Engagement & Account Management:

  • Lead the commercial training strategy for large corporate accounts, aligning training solutions with client business goals and measurable outcomes.
  • Own the training revenue target, ensuring training contributes significantly to overall business performance as part of the Customer Success function.
  • Design and commercialise bespoke training packages, co-created with clients to address specific challenges and drive ROI.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales and Account Management teams to identify growth opportunities, upsell training solutions, and expand client engagement.
  • Manage a dedicated Account Executive, driving lead generation, pipeline development, and conversion of training opportunities.
  • Analyse commercial performance across customer segments to inform future course development, pricing strategy, and go-to-market plans.
  • Drive strategic account planning, ensuring training is embedded in broader client success and renewal strategies.

Sector Strategy & Customer Value:

  • Shape training content to meet the needs of diverse customer segments, from SMEs to large corporate clients.
  • Develop sector-specific training pathways that align with industry challenges and workflows.
  • Ensure training delivers tangible outcomes for customers, enhancing their use our software solutions.
Qualifications
  • Desirable – Further Education in a technical or business related subject
  • Essential Criteria

    • Proven experience in training management, ideally within software, construction technology, or a related B2B environment.
    • Demonstrable track record in sales, commercial strategy, or account management, with clear examples of revenue growth, upselling, or strategic client engagement.
    • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to identify opportunities, shape value propositions, and influence buying decisions.
    • Excellent organisational and scheduling skills, capable of managing multiple trainers, resources, and priorities across concurrent projects.
    • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of a client’s organisation.
    • Experience working cross-functionally, particularly with Sales, Product, and Customer Success teams to align training with business goals.
    • Professional presence and business maturity, able to represent the company confidently in client-facing scenarios.
    • Understanding of both technical and commercial business processes, enabling credibility and trust with clients in complex environments.
    • Data-driven mindset, with the ability to analyse training performance, commercial outcomes, and customer feedback to inform strategy.

    Desirable Criteria

    • Experience developing or curating training content, including digital learning, instructor-led formats, or blended approaches.
    • Background in software or construction technology sectors, with familiarity in industry-specific challenges and terminology.
    • Experience managing or mentoring sales or account executives, contributing to pipeline development and commercial success.
    • Knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) or training delivery platforms.
    • Active participation in professional networks or industry bodies, staying current with trends in training, learning, and development.
    • Comfortable presenting at client workshops, webinars, or industry events, positioning training as a strategic lever for business success.
    Working hours and location:
    • The main location is Elecosoft’s office in Haddenham, but occasionally, travel to other locations may be required.
