How easy is it to switch to ShireSystem SaaS? Four customers share their experiences
ShireSystem customers operating across a range of industries have now moved from on-premises CMMS/CAFM software to ShireSystem SaaS and have started reaping the benefits.
Moving to ShireSystem SaaS is very straightforward; you can be up and running in less than half a day, using your existing credentials to log in.
To show you how simple the process can be, we’ve spoken to four ShireSystem customers in manufacturing, food and drink, and chemical engineering who’ve recently migrated from on-premises software to ShireSystem SaaS.
“It was a no-brainer decision.”
Corrugated cardboard producer, CorrBoard UK, switched to ShireSystem SaaS in 2021 as part of a broader cloud IT project.
“The on-premises version of ShireSystem ran itself, but we still needed to build tasks like performing updates into our IT strategy. It took up quite a chunk of our day maintaining our operational systems and providing support for them” explains John Watson, IT Manager at CorrBoard.
The migration process was painless: John took a backup of CorrBoard’s on-premises CMMS and sent it to our support team, who then hosted it on a cloud platform.
It took just two hours of downtime to move CorrBoard to the cloud, and most staff barely noticed the change. “The process was completely seamless for the engineering team,” John notes.
Upgrading to ShireSystem SaaS has delivered significant operational and IT benefits for CorrBoard, including automatic software updates. The company is now always using the latest version of ShireSystem without needing to perform manual upgrades, saving time and IT costs.
“We’ve seen the instant benefits of our cloud CMMS software being constantly updated and having new functionality, and we know it’ll be cost-effective over time and help our business move forward,” John adds.

“We don’t have to worry about backing up anymore.”
Chemical engineering company NASA Plant Repair Services Ltd made the switch to ShireSystem SaaS in August 2023.
As a small business, its internal IT resources are limited. The company has found the automated update and backup services a significant benefit since moving to the cloud.
“We don’t have to worry about backing up anymore, which saves us time,” explains Clare at NASA Plant Repair Services. “Before we switched to the cloud, we were worried about getting backups, but we have taken up the offer to have a copy of our system, which gives us extra reassurance.”
SaaS migration has also given NASA Plant Repair Services more flexibility with its operational set-up, as some staff members can now work securely from home.
“It’s a vast improvement.”
Many of our customers can work more efficiently since switching to ShireSystem SaaS, as the software isn’t limited by the capabilities of their on-premises server.
One company noticing a significant difference is food manufacturer Place UK, which moved to the cloud this year.
“It’s much better than the server we were on,” shares Keith Jakings, Engineering Supervisor at Place UK. “The whole system used to get really slow. It’s a vast improvement.”
“From an IT perspective, it’s great.”
Busy IT teams don’t need to be concerned about a complex transition to ShireSystem SaaS according to Chris Halling, IT Manager at Montgomery Waters who said:
“It’s excellent. I don’t get any complaints!” and “from an IT perspective, it’s great.” “The transition was seamless with minimal downtime needed”.
