A software pilot project boosts Carey Groups project control
During the development of Asta Vision, a web-based portal for managing Asta Powerproject programmes, we partnered with the Carey Group a leading family-owned construction business to pilot test the technology.
As a major tier two contractor with a broad base of construction, engineering and specialist operations, the Group Group’s portfolio can consist of up to 150 live projects of different scale and value at any one time. The Group has been a committed user of Asta Powerproject for many years and often found that project data collation was a complex and laborious task. Creating consistency or project data and risk across projects with an ability to view planning requirements at a global level was difficult. Asta Vision has bridged that gap, enabling project staff to view live project data across all projects with greater transparency and consistency.
A year on, the company is seeing a range of benefits. As Covid-19 changed their way of working, with large numbers of people off work or off site for some time, whether they were ill, isolating or working from home, the Group is safe in the knowledge they have an infrastructure that allows them to be flexible and adapt. The information they need is always accessible, backed up and secure.
Derek O’Neil, Head of Planning at Careys Civil Engineering told us:
“With Asta Vision we have a common tool to help guide everyone towards using good planning principles and processes. Asta Vision enables us to view live project data across all our projects with greater transparency and consistency. It helps planners to focus on the day job and not be distracted by lengthy reporting processes, allowing the wider business to understand project status at a glance.”
